E:ventGallery is delighted to present Another Album – a one-evening video installation by Johanna Billing, curated by Verina Gfader.

Taking place on a mellow summer evening on a Croatian island, the film Another Album (28 min loop, 2006) shows a group of young people sitting in a backyard, having wine and singing songs from the golden era of Ex-Yugoslavian rock music in the 70s and 80s, before the war would destroy much of pan-Yugoslavian cultural expression. The scenes in Another Album are improvised, and appear to recount a narrative of intimacy, nostalgia and conviviality; yet present is also an apparent commentary on re-enactment as means of cultural resistance. Through their song gatherings, the youths in Another Album revive a lost musical legacy challenging both the past and the present.
