World Fairs / Olympics - asking about:
* global media events
* TV events
* international space of global media events
* relationship with location
* site specific changes
* identity of local community
* media and architecture - the relationship with urban development / the traces left on the environment
* consequences/ intention
* security
* traffic - onsite movement / flows of information
* mediation
* control of information - who owns the rights to the event content and the use of footage?
* will the event continue to be a TV event or will control pass to the individual via technology?

* investigation is based on the combination of time

* critique of government driven initiatives
* 'creative industries' - branding a nation

* failures - augmentations of intentions
* the change in 'identity' making - a bigger field of reference - 'real-time identity'
* de- traditionalisation of identity - [hypothesis] we no longer look back to form identity, it happens in real-time in 'media space'
* media rituals - the need for the Olympics
* the need for global events
* the monument as embodiment of collective identity - nation branding
* the relationship between the event, public space, collective identity and the monument
* the dematerialisation of the monument - is Leni Riefenstahl's 'Olympia', 1936 a monument?
* does a monument signify permenance?
