What kinds of cultural exchange?
- social/art… Nicholas Luhmann
- diversity of public space, local Tower Hamlets community, thresholds of social and cultural space / economics / social segregation / …questions about gallery installations that purport to deal with social scenarios but become staged and attended by witnesses from within the gallery system rather than public society
- Crowds. Behaviour/Control. Witnesses. Occupants. Scale of interaction. Differences in scale altering the kinds of interaction
- working from within… what is the inside/outside of this project? the in-crowd. The outsider. The flaneur(?).
- sites of exchange …we have notes on these from preparing the workshops and s_l exhibition
- cultural (social) exchange occurs in populist interfaces such as myspace.com …how does this relate to cultural exchanges that occur in other places such as the gallery opening.
Myspace is a corporate controlled environment.

Current Technology
We are currently using Drupal (content management system) for the gallery website, www.eventnetwork.org.uk . Drupal uses a ‘relational database’ (I’m not fully sure the significance of this but I think there is something relevant in there).

The current website interface is a useful pragmatic tool for organising information, accessing the archive and publishing documents. Liquid will attempt to offer something else.
what will Liquid do?
…its not about reinventing the the internet browser - this is too big a project,
…its more about questioning what is useful about the current online interface, current technologies. What can we do with what we have? Is it useful to disrupt the loops?

E:vent Gallery
This is the system we are working with. The system has different mechanisms: the gallery space; the programme of art; the audiences; the workshops; the press releases; the installations; the online space; the discussions; the talks in universities - the projects that leak into different spaces; the public works; the east end art scene; the kind of works that are show/support in the gallery; the design of the invitations the whole system can be broken down to tiny pieces and then reassembled - I have open to this.
