Black Box points to a crucial but discreet recording device, a container for influential effects, and an implicit critique of the pedestrian curatorial
conventions of the white cube gallery space. It showcases artists who have been chosen not by professional talent-spotters but by fellow practitioners, with whom they share a productively ambivalent relationship to the mainstream market for contemporary art.
