Non-Camera Filmmaking and Recycled Images

Artists: Reed Van Nort, Rollin Hunt, Steven Probert, Alessandra Terpins, Harmony Kroine, and Yony Leyser

Twelve students at the New School University formed a film co-op, together with Jeanne Liotta, creating images directly onto 16mm film. Using hand-made and found footage and employing animation techniques seldom used or known today these young American film makers deal with issues relating to contemporary culture and politics in the US. These eight short films pay homage to filmmakers like Stan Brakhage, Harry Smith, Chick Strand, Bruce Connor, Craig Baldwin, and Ken Jacobs.

Screening to be followed by live performance by experimental violist/singer Anni Rossi.
